Team Test captain Tim Paine has said he will step down as captain if Australia wins the Ashes series against England later this year. Steve Smith will return to leadership after winning the Ashes. Smith lost the captaincy in March 2018 during a Test match against South Africa for ball tampering.
Pine was then selected as the captain of the Aussie Test team. Pine recently made interesting comments about the captaincy. How nice it would be to leave the captaincy after we win the Ashes series 5-0 against England. But, know that it is a very difficult series. We may have to sweat to win. We may have to crack 300 runs on the last day of the last Test. Pine then said he would leave the captaincy after I hit a century and hit the winning shot. Smith also talked about captaincy. Smith is said to be the best in terms of skill and captaincy, leading the national team at a very young age.
