Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said there was no shortage of fertilizers in the country. He suggested that state governments should control the flow of fertilizers like urea to industries. He also said that there should be daily monitoring of demand-supply of other nutrients including fertilizers. He made the keynote address at a virtual meeting with agriculture ministers of various states today.
Mandvi ministers were advised to focus on alternatives such as organic fertilizers in addition to synthetic fertilizers. “We are supplying fertilizer to the states as per the demand without any delay,” he said. Fertilizer production is on a large scale across the country. It is the collective responsibility of the Central and State Governments to provide timely fertilizer to farmers. He said the demand for DAP has increased significantly in the last few months. He appreciated the cooperation of the state governments in this. Mansukh Mandaviya said the Center should be informed in advance if there is a shortage of fertilizer in the states. Mansukh Mandaviya said the state governments should see to it that the farmers do not get in trouble and make fertilizers available to them.
