New Delhi: Leaders of the US Kisan Morcha (BKM) met at Singh’s border on Sunday to discuss the future course of action in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on Friday that he would repeal the newly introduced agricultural laws. It was decided at this meeting that the programs and concerns previously decided should continue as usual.

Farmer leader Balbir Singh Razewal clarified that the Kisan Panchayat in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will hold a farmers’ meeting on November 22, a rally on November 26 on all borders and a rally in tractors to Parliament on November 29. “We welcome the repeal of the cultivation laws, but many things are still pending,” Balbir Singh said.

Balbir Singh said he would write an open letter to Modi on the pending farmers’ demands. He said he would write a letter to Modi with demands like minimum support price committee, electricity bill 2020, withdrawal of cases against farmers. He said he would demand the removal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra as part of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

He said another meeting would be held on May 27 to discuss future activities. Rakesh Tikayat, national spokesperson of the Indian Kisan Union, said Chalo was taking Lucknow to participate in the Mahapanchayat for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) Act. Tikayat, the leader of the largest reform farmers’ association, commented that everything the Center says about agrarian reforms is utter nonsense. It does not change the situation of farmers.
