Bangalore: It seems that IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to retain Virat Kohli and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell ahead of next year’s IPL player auction. The names of the current 8 teams retaining players will have to be revealed by the 30th of this month. Each team can only retain a maximum of four players. This should include two foreign players.
This time two new teams will make their debuts in the IPL in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Current teams are required to select three players before bidding upon completion of retention. There should be two Indians, one foreign player.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team must be ready to face the challenges this time. Kohli’s resignation from the captaincy and the announcement of the retirement of South African star AB de Villiers are said to be a setback for the team. Kohli holds the record for most runs in an IPL match.
With no longer captaincy responsibilities he has the potential to become a key player on the team. Glenn Maxwell played in IPL 2021. 513 runs scored. Moreover, the RCB, which considers Maxwell to be a valuable player in both bowling and fielding, seems determined not to give him up.
