Solid win over Mumbai
Abu Dhabi: Kolkata Knight Riders are entering the second phase of the IPL. Mumbai Indians, who have been on the offensive with 12 wins in their last 13 matches, were stunned this time. KKR newcomer Venkatesh Iyer (53 off 30 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes) led the way with a lightning start. He played world-class bowlers like Bumrah, Boult and Milne. Rahul Tripathi (74 not out off 42 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes) played a crucial innings with an unbeaten half-century as Kolkata won the match by 7 wickets on Thursday. They also finished fourth with 10 points and claimed to be in the race. Batting first, Mumbai scored 155 for 6 in 20 overs.
Decock (55 off 42 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes) and Rohit (33 off 30 balls with 4 fours) excelled. Ferguson, the celebrity took two wickets. In the ensuing innings, Kolkata won by 159 runs for 3 wickets in 15.1 overs. Bumrah took three wickets. Narine was named man of the match.
Iyer, Tripathi Aggression:
KKR ‘Batters scored at rocket speed, though the target was the same. Openers Venkatesh Iyer and Gill (13) hit four sixes in the first over of the innings. In the second over, Iyer started the innings with 6,4,4. Bumrah dismissed Gill in the third over but Iyer’s aggression did not stop. The bowler swung the bat as if someone was unnecessary. One-down batsman Rahul Tripathi also hit boundaries whenever he could. In the power play, Kolkata scored 63 runs with 10.5 runs. Iyer completed his first half-century in the IPL in just 25 balls.
It is also the fastest KKR player on Mumbai. Tripathi completed his half century with 6.4 in the Bumrah over and Iyer was clean bowled for the fourth ball. By then he needed 28 off 46 balls and KKR was not bothered at any stage. Tripathi 6,4 in the 13th over .. Morgan (7) 17 with sixes. Rana (5 not out) ended the KKR match with a four off the first ball of the 16th over.

Mumbai openers Captain Rohit and Decock gave a lightning start to the team as they won the toss and elected to bat. However, the Kolkata bowlers rallied and put on 75 runs in the last 10 overs. Rohit turned the first ball into a four and opened the scoring. Decock then went on to bat with two more fours in the fourth over. One in the fifth over and two sixes in the sixth over. The team scored 56 runs in the powerplay. In the tenth over, Rohit tried a huge shot and Sunil Narine ended the 78-run partnership for the first wicket. From here the KKR air started. Suryakumar (5) left shortly after and the KKR bowlers did not give up a single four off 33 balls.
However, Decock, who completed his half-century off 37 balls, eventually scored a four in the 14th over to take the team score to 100. But in the next over he was taken to the famous Krishna Pavilion with a slow ball. Ishant (14), who appeared on the swing with a six, also did not last long.
