Former Congress leader, former minister and Kerala Congress (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai has passed away. He is 86 years old. He has been ill for some time. He died at a hospital in Kottarakkara, Jamuna this morning. He served in the cabinet of several chief ministers during the tenure of the Congress government. Balakrishna Pillai, who came out not liking the attitude of the Congress, formed a new party under the name of Kerala Congress (B).
He has three sons. He is the son of KB Ganesh Kumar, a prominent Malayalam actor who won the Kerala Congress (B) candidate from Pathanapuram. Balakrishna Pillai entered politics as a student. Actively worked in Congress affiliated student unions. Gradually grew. Served as a member of the AICC. He was elected to the Assembly from Pathanamthitta constituency at the age of 25. He then said goodbye to the Congress party. Kerala Congress (B) formed a separate party. C Achutha Menon, K Karunakaran, Ike Nayanar and AK Antony have served as Cabinet Ministers in Governments. He oversaw several branches.
