Paris: The French Open women’s singles did not go unnoticed. Niruti runner-up Sofia Kenin went home in the fourth round. Schwarzman won 7-6 (9), 6-4, 7-5 over Struff (Germany). Aroside Alexander Zverev (Germany) defeated Japanese star Ki Nishikori 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals against Davidovich Fokina (Spain). In the other fourth round, Focina defeated Delbonis (Argentina) 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Sakari first time ..: Sakari, ranked 18th in the world in women, reached the Grand Slam quarterfinals for the first time in her career, beating fourth seed Sofia Kenin (USA) 6-1, 6-3. Another American, Coco Goff, defeated Ones Zebour (Tunisia) 6-3, 6-1. Goff thus became the first player in the last 15 years to reach the quarterfinals at the Grand Slam at a young age (17 years 86 days).
In another match, Krejiskova defeated Sloane Stephens (USA) 6-2, 6-0. In the men’s doubles quarterfinals, Rohan Bopanna / Franco Kugar (Croatia) lost 5-7, 3-6 to Martinez / Andujar of Spain.
