The TRS party won a solid victory in the Nagarjuna Sagar by-election with a clear lead in successive rounds. Congress senior leader Janareddy took the lead in just one of the 10th, 11th and 14th rounds. The TRS has once again empowered Sagar, the bastion of Jana. It is learned that Janareddy, who contested from here on behalf of the Congress even in the 2018 Assembly elections, was defeated by the late Nomula Narsimhaiya. Now the Nomula heir has been defeated once again by Bhagat.
The Congress party squatted on the results of the election campaign. True to the exit polls’ predictions, TRS candidate Nomula Bhagat won with a majority of 18,449 votes. The TRS, which strategically landed Nomula Bhagat in the Sagar ring, has succeeded in diverting the attention of voters. People showed their admiration for Father Nomula Narsimhaiya over Bhagat. On the other hand, the victory in the Dubaka by-election and the BJP’s attempt to compete with the TRS in the GHMC elections did not materialize in Sagar. The crimson force emerged before the power of the official TRS at the field level.
The BJP did not get a significant number of votes in a single round in the overall count. The ruling TRS, which suffered a crushing defeat in the Dubaka by-election, acted strategically in the Sagar by-election. Narasimhaiah’s son was dropped off at the last minute without announcing the candidate. Thus care was taken not to fall short of the expectations of the rival parties. Jana once again set foot in the fort.
