Ahmedabad: Team India limited overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has responded to criticism of the Chepauk pitch used for the second Test against England. Making tracks in favor of the home team is very common in cricketing countries. Michael Vaughan and Mark Waugh criticized the Chepauk pitch. Groundsmen slammed it for turning it into a ‘minifield’. Responding Rohit dismissed their criticism.
He said he did not understand what the discussion was about when the two teams were on the same pitch. He said that such criticisms are coming every time. “A lot of people say the pitches shouldn’t be like this, but the pitches here have been the same for years,” he told a virtual press conference. He said it was the right of each team to change the conditions at home to their advantage.
He said that no one thinks of us when we go abroad, so why should we think of others. Rohit said that the pitches should be prepared according to the priority of our team. Rohit suggested that the ICC should be told to make all the pitches the same.
