Tensions were high in the northeastern state of Tripura on Wednesday (September 8). Clashes between the ruling BJP and the opposition CPM led to violence. Ten people were injured in clashes between the two factions. Two offices of the CPM were set on fire. Six vehicles were set on fire. BJP and CPM leaders have been blaming each other for the violence.
Violence erupted in Gomati, Bishalingar and Sepahijala districts of Tripura, as well as in Hapabia and Melarmat areas. The robbers set fire to CPM offices in Udaipur, Bishalgarh and several other places. Leaders of the CPI (M) and BJP stormed Bahabahi in several places and were dispersed by police using batons and tear gas in some places. The CPM leaders alleged that the BJP leaders were not the ones who set fire to the CPM offices.
According to police, BJP workers staged a rally in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, on Wednesday (September 8). The DYFI alleged that BJP activists had obstructed their protest rally. At that time, there was a serious altercation between the two and many people were injured on both sides. The CPM alleges that BJP activists set fire to CPM offices shortly after the incident.
‘The full damage has yet to be assessed. So far, three bikes and three cars have been torched. CPM offices in Bishalingar and Hapania have been torched. The CPM office in Udaipur was attacked. A young man named Mafiz Mia was injured in the attack. We have arrested two suspects in connection with this. Tripura Left Front convener Bijan Dhar said, “It is learned that BJP activists bulldozed the gate of our party office in Bishalgarh and then set the office on fire. They also destroyed the house of our party leader Partha Pratim Mazumdar. ‘ Stated that. It was described as an attack on democracy.
The BJP, on the other hand, has denied the CPM allegations. BJP spokesperson Navendu Bhattacharya said their party workers had not attacked anyone. CPM activists have alleged that seven BJP activists were involved in the attacks. CPM leaders have been blamed for the recent violence in the state. CPM activists also allegedly attacked women BJP workers with bricks.
The robbers also attacked the office of a daily newspaper called Defendant Kalam in Agartala. The office was set on fire. Four journalists were injured in the attack. There are allegations that this is also the work of BJP activists.
