After the success of OK Kanmani, director Mani Ratnam is ready for another wonderful release on this April again with Kaatru Veliyidai, featuring Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Shraddha Srinath and Dehli Ganesh. The first glimpse of this movie came out in January end. And it has given tons of hope about this movie. The teaser begin with the Vaan Varuvan bgm along with the quintessence of the slow moving bus, sunlit, clouds and the particle of snow. It was all beautifully demonstrated in those few seconds. Kudos to the amazing DOP Ravi Varman. Aditi’s eyes have a sense of exquisiteness in them creating an illusion of its own. Undoubtedly, she was just like an art! The next came with a long shot of Karthi with his rustic voice reciting the famous Mahakavi Bharathiyar poem, “Kaatru Veliyidai Kannamma, Nindan Kaadhalai Enni Kalikkindren”, while walking in a desert along with the sunset.
Few days after the release of the teaser, the team came up with “A minute of Azhagiye”. Well I’ve to say, it’s a total Azhagu. I mean BEAUTY for those who don’t know Tamil. Begin with a pitch perfect acapella, Azhagiye offers constant clap beats and a gentle loop of guitar strums. “Waiting for your PUNNAGAI – Siridi, Kaanavillai heart beat – Thiridi” Such a cute lines and a totally Karky things. For his every song, we (I) always thought of wants to praise him but afraid of what we gonna praise for his next. Words are not enough!
When we are not even manage to come out from this beautiful Azhagiye song, again on valentine’s day, they release the most awaited song “Vaan Varuvan”. This is the most anticipated among the lovers since the time it made the glimpse in the teaser. Very beautifully composed by A.R.Rahman with a breezy touch and instrumental tune that stimulates. Sang by Sashaa Tirupathi, she sounds like a real time honey. The beauty of this song is the part which takes a different scale of tempo and it creates the romantic vibe while listening. On the other hand, Mani Ratnam’s touch to take the picturization of this song is another level. Somewhere it reminds me of Pudhu Vellai Mazhai from Roja, but no. This is to its BEST.
After giving us one fusion and a romantic on Valentine’s Day, A.R.Rahman gives us another beautiful song for this wedding season. Saarattu Vandiyila penned by Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu is pure and the tune is catchy. This song, sung by A.R.Raihanah, Tippu and Nikitha Gandhi is filled with slow beats and a rhythm with minimal variations. Shot with Aditi Rao Hydari and Karthi, smeared in colors, only ARR could pull this iridescent track standing on one beat. Yet again Ravi Varman’s visuals could make this song a pleasurable watching experience.
On 9th March, the most awaited trailer was launched A.R.Rahman during his live chat on facebook with the Director Mani Ratnam. Talking about the visual of Ravi Varman, as usual they are spectacular and superlative. Collaborating with Mani Ratnam for the first time, he has given his best showcasting various scenic location. A.R.Rahman always gives his best for Mani Ratnam. The BGM enhances the feel of youthfulness of the film. Karthi looks fit and younger with his clean shaved face, potray a fun loving lad out to woo his lady love. It wouldn’t be appropriate to comment about Karthi’s performance from the trailer because we have only seen him rustic roles. I should reserve the review for the release opf the film. Aditi Rao Hydari looks so outright gorgeous like a newly bloomed rose and the camera angles and lighting accentuate it. She is making her debut in Tamil with this film. Definitely a dream debut for her.
In all, the Kaatru Veliyidai trailer has made the audience go so restless, and feel this one month duration is way too far. So the official countdown begins!
This film is not just a light hearted romance but one with unconditional and larger than life – LOVE!
